TENNESSEE STATE SCHOLASTIC
INDIVIDUAL CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP
REGIONAL QUALIFYING TOURNAMENT

TOP 8 Individuals from each section qualify to play in the
TN STATE SCHOLASTIC CHAMPIONSHIP
Douglass School (K-8)

SECTIONS:
High School (open to grades 12 and below)
Junior High (open to grades 9 and below)
Elementary (open to grades 6 and below)
Primary (open to grades 3 and below)
FORMAT: 5 Round Swiss
A 6th round may be added if there are more than 48 players in that section and will be added if there are more than 64 players in that section. The time control will be as announced. (All players play all rounds)
TIME CONTROL:
Rounds 1 & 2 - 30min/Sudden Death
Rounds 3 – 5 - 60 min/Sudden Death
SITE REGISTRATION: 7:30 am to 8:00 am
CHECK-IN: 7:30 am to 8:30 am
All pre-registered players must check in by 8:30 am or they will not be paired for the first round.
DUES: No dues are required for the regionals. USCF and TCA dues are required of all players in the finals.
ROUNDS: Round 1 – 9:00 am, Rounds 2 thru 5 – As Announced
AWARDS CEREMONY: Immediately following last round.
TROPHIES: Top Ten Players. Top below 800, and Top Unrated in each section.
TIE BREAKERS: G/10 playoff for First Place.
BYES: One one-half point bye is available for any round if requested before the end of registration.
ENTRY FEE: $15 if mailed by Jan 18th, $25 at site.
